Welcome to another video guys and today we are going to talk about how do you get that 120 on the TOEFL within 7 to 15 days. That’s it, yeah you do not need any more preparation than that. If you have already taken the GRE, the GMAT, or any similar test, it’s gonna be even further easier for you. But even without it, with seven to 15 days of preparation, you can definitely score a 120. I personally scored a 119 and I made a mistake on the reading section, and I actually made a video about that. It’s not a mistake on my end in terms of my capabilities; it’s a mistake that I made on the strategy of the test.
First-Time Experience
All right, I started early, and you should never start early again. More on that in the reading section video; you can check out what kind of a mistake I made and how you can actually stop yourself from making that mistake. All right, getting back on the topic over here in this video we’re going to talk about how do you get that perfect-looking TOEFL score, 120 out of 120, within 7 to 15 days. Right, let me tell you the first time you actually take the test, it’s going to be super, super easy for you. All right, and I want your first time to be your last time. By the way, it was so for me. And you know, I already took the test for the first time and I got 119, so I never really took it again.
Familiarizing Yourself with the Test
The best way to do that is to watch Noteful videos. You can actually go on and search on YouTube for Noteful and you will be able to see that they have explained every single question. All right, it’s like every single question on the TOEFL test; it’s already predefined how they’re gonna ask it. All right, the only thing that’s gonna change is the details of the question or the topic of the question, but really the concept remains the same. So they’re going to test you on that same concept every single time for that question.
Understanding Question Types
All right, so for instance, the speaking section question number three is going to be a conversation. I’m just giving an example, by the way, so it’s always going to be a conversation and it’s always going to be about some particular issue that the student is facing. And basically, it’s all about you know that it’s already predefined. So you want to get yourself familiarized with the whole test. You want to understand the format of the test; you want to understand what they are trying to trap you into, and that’s really how you go about it. That’s the first step, and that’s absolutely crucial. You cannot and you absolutely cannot get rid of that.
Right, you cannot just leave this point. So make sure that you go ahead and watch those Noteful videos. But again, you know a lot of times people ask me if should I stick to those templates that they give me. Should I actually always remember everything that they say? No, it’s not necessary at all. You know, you do your thing; knowing the templates and actually sticking to them is a different thing. Right, if you just know them, you can use them, but at times when you are not able to stick to them, that’s perfectly fine. I didn’t stick to them, and I still scored a 119.
Getting ETS Tests
Right, but I used them partially; I didn’t use them partially, so it’s all about what you are comfortable with. All right, you don’t have to, you don’t have to, you know memorize all of that stuff and make sure that you say every single word like they say it. But make sure you watch those videos because they make it very, very simple for you to understand how the test is. Okay, once you are done with that, now TOEFL Tests, what you want to do is you want to get your hands on some ETS tests. All right, how do you do that? You buy the official ETS guides. All right, you can do that; you can buy the official ETS guides. You can get a CD with that. Once you get that CD with those guides, what you can do is you can put that CD into your computer or you know create an ISO file from some computer if you do not have a CD drive and then use that on your PC. That’s software where you can test yourself.
Now, the bad part about this software is that it doesn’t have that, you know basically it’s just going to test you on your listening and your reading because that’s where they can. It’s easier for them, their software to actually you know check your answers against those specified answers that the ETS test creators have given. And if your answers match, you get a point; if not, you don’t get a point, it’s as simple as that. But for the listening section and the writing section, they’re not going to evaluate you at all. All right, so that’s the only bad part. You won’t be evaluated for the listening and writing section, but ETS tests are absolutely necessary because they are the closest to what you actually see on the test.
All right, what you want to do is you want to take one ETS test before you get it. Once you actually have like, you know, they have three books; if you get those three books, you will actually get around 10 to 15 tests. You don’t even need to take a test every single day, but again, you don’t need to exhaust all of those 15 tests. But all you want to do is make sure that you have them just in case you need them. See, sometimes people might watch this video who have more than 15 days, have 30 days. In that case, they can of course, they can you know spend more time over there, but this schedule is just for 15 days because I prepared for 15 days. Sometimes even less than 15 days. I’ve seen people do it; you can definitely do it.
All right, the first thing, by the way, that you want to do—I forgot to mention in this video—is you want to make sure that you book your TOEFL. All right, you want to make sure that you book it because maybe if you don’t book it today, that 15-day duration that you have, that gap, you might not get it all right. And the TOEFL is usually on weekends; it’s not on weekdays. So really, you will have a holiday. Make sure that you can get a holiday before that. All right, if you’re working, if you’re doing some internship or something of that sort, make sure that you can get one or two days off before that because you’re going to be studying a lot on those days.
All right, again now we actually wrapped up what you have to do. Again, you know, summarizing, you want to get your hands on those Noteful videos; you want to understand them. You want to make sure that you familiarize yourself with the concepts. All right, you know the questions on the test; you know how they are going to test you. All right, after that you already need to have your ETS TOEFL tests; you need to buy those. All right, and if you can just get them from Amazon, that’s great too. Right, get them and make sure that you have the software installed on your PC so you can actually use that instead of using the book. The book is not really meant to be used if you have to listen to some questions during the speaking section; it’s just not the same if you’re preparing for the book because you’ll be reading it instead of, you know, just listening to it.
That’s the whole point of the listening section; that you need to listen, so that’s important. All right, make sure you have the software. Now you have the software, you have the resources, books, and everything. You know, but what you want really at this point is somewhere you can improve. The ETS test won’t really help you improve; it won’t really give you those answers and tell you that, all right, these are the samples on sample answers and these are the mistakes that the sample answer has, and these are your mistakes or something of that sort. ETS won’t really do that for you. All right, so what you want at this point is one exhaustive resource that covers every single thing, and I’m gonna give you that resource. I’m gonna tell you how you use that. Right, it’s not a resource that you can get so easily for free, but of course, you may be able to get the soft copy for free, but it’s not worth it if you do not have access to the online portal.
See, it’s the Manhattan TOEFL five-pound book. This book is actually the only resource and the only resource I trust and use. I’ve tried out a couple of resources whether you’re taking a test before August 1, 2019, or after because I know the format is going to change, In both cases this book is going to help you a lot. All right, it’s very, very important that you understand that you need one resource that can actually help you get through the complete test. And sometimes you need access to the online portal, and a lot of things you cannot just get for free, everything. All right, so make sure that you have that online portal with you; without that, it’s just not worth it.
It’s just like you are reading the listening questions, and you are reading the speaking question answers, whatever it is, it’s just not going to work. Right, so make sure that you have that portal. But
if you can get it for free, I mean, you know it’s there; some people, you know, just make sure you have the online access as well, not just the book. It has to be online access. Now, once you have all of that, you want to dedicate one day to one section, right? You want to say that, all right, today, I am just going to focus on the reading section.
All right, once you get familiar with the resources and you know the questions, it’s just a matter of, you know, how much time you’re gonna put into practice in the speaking section, writing section, and how much you’re gonna put into the reading section. All right, so you want to just go ahead and say, okay, today I’m just going to take the reading section from the ETS test and I am just going to take it from the Manhattan book as well and I am just going to take the reading section again. All right, so you will do these sections in combination.
When you’re done with the reading section, you’re going to do the same with the listening section. Once you finish, you know, you have to write down your mistakes. You have to write down your mistakes because you need to understand where you made those mistakes. All right, and it’s not just like, okay, I got two wrong; you need to go ahead and just watch it; you have to review it. That’s crucial because that’s how you know the learning process works. Right, so the learning process works when you see your mistakes.
Make sure you write down your mistakes. If you’re not writing down your mistakes, you might forget about them in a month. Right, you might forget about the mistakes you make today in a month. So the more mistakes you make, the more you review them, the better you understand how the test actually works. You will do that for every section. All right, you’re going to do that for the writing section as well. You’ll have to write that, and you’ll have to understand your mistakes. And for the speaking section, you can do that a couple of times; you can do that with someone or on your own. You can just record yourself on your phone and just listen to it. That’s a great way to practice too.
All right, so once you’ve gone through all of that, what you want to do is on day 14 or day 15 you want to take an actual test. That’s the most important part. I know that sometimes, you know, it’s going to be boring. You know, sometimes people like just, oh, I’m going to skip the reading section today. You know what, if you skip it, you’re just not going to be getting that great score, right? Because when you get to the reading section, it just means that, you know, it’s just going to come back. That score is going to come back when you take the test. So make sure you go through it.
So when you take the actual test on day 14, you want to take the test and you’re just going to sit down and make sure that you are comfortable. And you know, you’re going to time yourself as if you are actually taking the test and you will see how much you get on that test. If you do that and you get a 120, great! If you don’t, then you want to review your mistakes again. But that’s where you want to see how you’re doing and where you are. All right, so make sure that you practice and practice and practice on day 14 and day 15. All right, so you can see how you’re doing; you can see if you need to go back and make sure that you fix your mistakes and not miss that point at all.
So again, to summarize, what you want to do is familiarize yourself with the test, right? You want to understand what are the questions going to be like. You want to get the ETS guides and the software, get the Manhattan TOEFL book, and then write down your mistakes every single time you make them. Once you do that, you will score a perfect 120 in seven to 15 days. And with that, I hope you found this video helpful.
