I have good news for Indians who want to move to Australia without any job offer and without sponsorship because India’s name is included in one of their visa categories, which is called the Working Holiday Visa. Other countries were already included as part of this visa; however, India, China, and Vietnam are the new entrants into this, and Indians are given a thousand slots for it.
Understanding the Working Holiday Maker Program
It’s a lottery system, so if you are lucky enough and your name is in that lottery, it means you have this golden opportunity to move to Australia without needing a job offer or sponsorship. You’re excited, right? If you want to learn more about it, make sure you keep watching the video till the end, as I’ve invited Victor, who is my special guest, where we’ll do a deep dive into this working visa’s eligibility criteria, cost, and documents needed.
Eligibility Criteria
Please thank you, Sara, for having me here and the audience. My name is Victor, and I live in New Zealand and have more than 12 years of experience in providing immigration advice. Today, we are going to share some knowledge about the new visa categories in Australia.
We always make videos, and you give us so much love and we get so many comments and questions. Thank you very much for supporting us and supporting Your Knowledge Buddy. Because of your support, we are here again and able to share information and knowledge with you. These Western countries have a culture of encouraging youth to travel and explore their countries. Basically, they want to attract talent.
Ballot Process and Registration for the Working Holiday Visa
I’ll give an example: in New Zealand, citizens under 35 can go and work in Canada for two years. They get a two-year work visa to explore Canada and its work culture, tourist destinations, and share their skills and find employment opportunities. If they are attracted and want to live there forever, they can apply for a variety of visas.
So, guys, this visa is new for India. I’m going to share the screen and create knowledge from there on the screen. Just give me a second.
Key Dates for Registration and Selection Process
Alright, so now I’m going to cover what is this Working Holiday Maker Program, how it is important, and how our Indian applicants between 18 and 30 years of age should be excited about this visa. We’re going to cover that. This is the information about the Working Holiday Maker Visa on the immigration website.
Visa Duration and Cost Details
This is a new ballot process. The ballot process is not applicable for every country like Germany France or Singapore. These countries do not have to be part of the ballot because the number of applicants from those countries is less than the allocated spaces. But for India, China, and Vietnam, as we know, we have a larger population and more applicants. That’s why the Australian government has introduced this ballot process, which we’re going to cover now.
This Holiday Visa is covering three countries: China, India, and Vietnam. They all have their own quotas: China has 5,000 spaces, India has only 1,000 spaces, and Vietnam has 1,500 spaces. Thus, there’s a cap on this functioning occasion visa.
Additional Requirements: Age, Passport, and Financial Proof
This visa was proactively initiated on the first of October 2024 and polling form qualification, which is vital for our crowd to focus on. What you really want to do is register yourself for the nation’s polling form framework, and you want to have an EMU account. For that, you want to have an email address.
You need to go to the Office’s site, register yourself, make a login and secret phrase, and afterward, you can place your application or your advantage in. There are a few essential measures that we will cover in more detail at a later stage.
Post-Selection Process: Applying for the Visa After Being Selected
Applicants have to be between 18 and 30 years of age. If you are about to have your 31st birthday, then you are not eligible, so you have to keep that higher bracket of age in mind. You should have a passport from one of these countries: India, Vietnam, or China. There is a fee payable of AUD $25, so people have to keep in mind that to express interest in this, there is no guarantee that you will be selected from the ballot, so there is a small risk of $25.
All in all, how to enroll? All the data is here: enlistment for Working Occasion Visa. When you register, you will be given an enrollment number. Whenever you are chosen from the voting form, you’ll have the option to move to the following stage, which we will cover on the following screen. This is the enlistment time frame. Enlistment is open now from the first of October 2024 and will close toward the finish of this current month.
Important Documents and Fees for Visa Application
In this way, the entire October month is accessible for our watchers to enroll. When you register, what occurs after that is there will be a choice interaction, and they are haphazardly chosen. So, it’s a pure lottery-based system.
I’ll explain the eligibility criteria to get into this ballot system, but you have to keep in mind it’s a pure lottery-based system. You cannot improve your chances of getting selected for this.
Alright, so this is also something I just mentioned: if you turn 31 years of age—this is a very technical point. I just want to take a minute here to explain. If somebody has already turned 31, if they had their 31st birthday and have applied but are not selected from the ballot before their 31st birthday, then their registration will lapse. But if they have been picked from the ballot and then immigration has not decided on their application, then they’ll be safe even if they turn 31; it doesn’t matter. They will still be given this visa.
Thus, the choice period is likewise something vital. Choice will begin occurring from the fourteenth of October till the 31st of April 2025, so there will be different determinations. You can check your status on your enrollment in your EMU account; it will show what’s going on with your determination.
As I said, this is active now. Registration started on the 1st of October and will close by the end of October. Once you register, what happens after that? There will be a selection process, and they are randomly selected. There are no specific measures on what grounds they’ll be chosen. We will discuss the qualification rules to get into this polling form framework, however, remember it’s an unadulterated lottery-based framework.
Next Steps After Visa Approval: Prepare for Your Australian Journey
Thus, this is likewise something I recently referenced: on the off chance that you turn 31 years old — this is an extremely specialized point. I simply need to require a brief here to make sense of. Assuming someone has previously turned 31, in the event that they had their 31st birthday and have applied but are not chosen from the voting form before their 31st birthday, then their enrollment will pass. But if they have been picked from the ballot and then immigration has not decided on their application, then they’ll be safe even if they turn 31; it doesn’t matter. They will still be given this visa.
Okay, I’m not complaining about being in the UK or for getting my parents in the UK.
Thank you very much, Victor. Any final tips or suggestions for my audience?
Definitely. What I would say is if anybody is planning to apply for a Visitor Visa or any Temporary Class Visa, guys, you have to provide the information in a very structured manner. Do not be overconfident. You need to demonstrate what your ties are, why you will go back, and what you will do in the country where you are going to visit, as well as show your income tax returns and bank statements. A major problem we see from the applications is that just before the application is made, they get a lump sum or a big amount of money credited into their account.
So, that is something they have to explain if they have any unexplained deposits in the account. You need to demonstrate the source of the money as well. If you have the money from your parents, guys, your parents are not traveling—you are traveling. You need to explain why you will go back to your home country or why you will return to your base after completing your stated purpose of traveling to Australia.
So, this is the final note: be mindful, don’t be overconfident. Try to think from the perspective of the immigration officer. They don’t know you, they don’t know your financial wealth or financial health, they don’t know anything, so you need to put everything in your application and writing and explain your circumstances. This is where our specialized knowledge comes into play. If you need help from Victor and his team, you can send your applications or email to yourknowledgebuddy@gmail.com, and I’ll pass it on to Victor and his team so that you guys can be successful on the first attempt.
